That's why our dedicated cancer nurses are on hand to offer 24 hour phone support to members diagnosed with cancer. They're also here for family members who often need support too.
If you are a member, or a relative of a member who has received a cancer diagnosis, the service is available through your Personal Advisory Team on Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm (outside these hours, please contact Health at Hand on 0800 003 0040800 003 004).
It can be exhausting putting on a brave face for loved ones in tough times. But with our nurses, you can let that guard down, share your fears and be completely open and honest. They're here to see you through the challenges and give you a boost when you're down.
They can be a source of comfort when you need someone to listen, and they can give you ways to approach some of the tricky things that come with cancer -- like how to talk to your partner or children about your illness.
Our nurses are available for members to call 365 days a year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day - and there's no question too small.
Whether you're looking for an answer to a query about your condition or treatment plan, or just a quick chat with a friendly voice on the end of a phone, you can talk to them about anything, and remain anonymous if you prefer.
Your treatment may be over, but our support for you is here as long as you need it.
Our nurses know that life is not the same after cancer. While many people will expect things to go back to the way they were, you may still feel anxious or unwell and may struggle to resume your old routine.
This is normal and it takes time.
Our nurses are always here for you, on the days you feel low or on the day you feel well enough to host your first Macmillan coffee morning.
